Kanus-a Pa Man Sugdan? Dredging of the Cagayan de Oro River

Have you seen how the Cagayan de Oro River looks like today? It’s calm and unruffled; far from what it was the evening of December 16.

Cagayan de Oro River today (1-13-2012)

Yes it looks still and peaceful, but until when? One thing is sure about the river now – it’s too shallow!

In the background is the St. Augustine's Cathedral

At the far distance is the Cagayan de Oro City Hall

When will the dredging start? What if a storm will hit us again? What if a tropical depression or even a low pressure area will bring too much rain again in the mountains of Bukidnon and the other nearby provinces?

I hope the dredging will start the soonest … As can be attested, walang sinasanto and baha … bata man o matanda, mayaman o mahirap, may sakit o malakas ang pangangatawan. Flood waters kill living things – people, animals, plants … and it destroys properties, without exemption!
