Simple Ways to Burn 200 Calories

2
September

For people who have reached the 40’s, something is just inevitable – the metabolism slows down – and gaining weight becomes a dilemma.

The hardest part, for many of us, is losing the weight – and maintaining it!

Some follow diet fads; some take diet pills; some exercise; and for those who are truly determined, they hit the gym!

For those who have not gathered or mustered enough courage and will power – yet – to enroll in a gym class, here are other ways of burning 200 calories.

Clean your living room for 30 minutes and do some furniture rearranging;

Painting (or repainting) a wall for one hour;

Have a barbecue party; but first clean your patio and pull some weeds from your garden;

Do your shopping and push your cart around the grocery;

Play the scrabble with your friends and family members;

Clean and wash your car;

Give your partner a massage for 42 minutes – you’ll burn more than 200 calories;

Dance to some samba music for an aerobic dance;

And this is my favorite – go window shopping and try on as many clothes as you want. Do you know that for every piece of clothing you try on, you burn at least 11 calories? So try on as many as you like – it’ll be one enjoyable workout for you.

So if you’re like the many many people I know (including me) who’s desperate to lose weight, why not try any of these calorie-burning activities? Here’s the plus: if you do all these, you’ll end up with a cleaner and prettier house, your relationship with your spouse will improve (what with all the massages you’ll give him/her), and you’ll be slimmer, sexier, and more fit than you’ve ever been.

Portioning Food and Losing Weight

10
December

A good way to stay on course in achieving and maintaining your desired weight is to portion or divide any food you have into small serving pieces. This is true whether you’re eating chips, cookies, bread, pastries, pasta, and most especially desserts.

Do all the portioning prior to eating them. It will even be much better if you portion your food the moment you come home from the grocery store.

When you sort out your food, portion them into individual serving pieces or sizes and then store them in individual food bags or containers.

Remember: just one (1) serving size each pack or container. This is very important so you will be able to track the volume or quantity of your food consumption. Every time you go to the ref, or the cupboard or pantry, just get one pack or serving.

And always remember never to eat more than one serving per meal.

When you are able to stick to this, loosing and maintaining weight is not going to be difficult. If this practice succeeds, it simply means you have excellent self control because you’re able to manage your self!

Lose Weight By Breathing Properly

9
December

When I read about this – that one can actually lose weight with proper breathing exercises, I did not really see the connection.

Good that I continued reading on, now I can truly say “Oh I see! There’s the connection!”

Deep breathing regularly is very important because fat cannot burn without enough oxygen.

Here’s a short step by step guide on how to properly perform breathing exercises.

To begin, sit on a mat or the floor with your legs crossed comfortably, the  palms of your hands placed on your knees.

  • Close your eyes;
  • Breathe in through the nose, slowly to the count of 3. Exhale through the mouth, again slowly, to the count of 3;
  • Inhale through the nose slowly to the count of 5. Exhale slowly through the mouth to the count of 5;
  • Inhale through the nose slowly to the count of 10. Exhale slowly through the mouth to the count of 10;
  • Repeat the breathing process increasing the count by 3 or 5 each time until you eventually reach 20. Continue to train your lungs until you can reach 30. Never rush the counting, be patient.
  • For each session, at the longest count you can accomplish, repeat that breathing count 5 times.

Finally, as you open your eyes, take one deep breath and then release it slowly.

Rise very slowly. Be extra careful not to rise too quickly because if you do, there is a big chance you will pass out.
