Simple Ways to Burn 200 Calories

2
September

For people who have reached the 40’s, something is just inevitable – the metabolism slows down – and gaining weight becomes a dilemma.

The hardest part, for many of us, is losing the weight – and maintaining it!

Some follow diet fads; some take diet pills; some exercise; and for those who are truly determined, they hit the gym!

For those who have not gathered or mustered enough courage and will power – yet – to enroll in a gym class, here are other ways of burning 200 calories.

Clean your living room for 30 minutes and do some furniture rearranging;

Painting (or repainting) a wall for one hour;

Have a barbecue party; but first clean your patio and pull some weeds from your garden;

Do your shopping and push your cart around the grocery;

Play the scrabble with your friends and family members;

Clean and wash your car;

Give your partner a massage for 42 minutes – you’ll burn more than 200 calories;

Dance to some samba music for an aerobic dance;

And this is my favorite – go window shopping and try on as many clothes as you want. Do you know that for every piece of clothing you try on, you burn at least 11 calories? So try on as many as you like – it’ll be one enjoyable workout for you.

So if you’re like the many many people I know (including me) who’s desperate to lose weight, why not try any of these calorie-burning activities? Here’s the plus: if you do all these, you’ll end up with a cleaner and prettier house, your relationship with your spouse will improve (what with all the massages you’ll give him/her), and you’ll be slimmer, sexier, and more fit than you’ve ever been.

Best Exercise for a Healthier Heart and a Sexier You

16
August

It’s called aqua exercise. Yes, you read it right; aqua exercise or water exercise!

Yes, it requires that you don a swimsuit; but you may opt to wear a short and a shirt instead if you’re not very comfortable in a swimsuit, as long as the pool owner will allow you to;

Yes, you’ll be required to really get into the pool (or in any body of water) and get yourself wet;

Yes, this exercise can be done on the beach if you’re nearer it or if you don’t have access to a pool;

Yes, you have to be a fun-loving person so you’ll enjoy this type of exercise;

No, you don’t have to know how to swim to be able to do the aqua exercise;

No, this exercise is not just for the fat or the overweight. This exercise will do everybody good, whether you’re 8 or 80 years old; thin or fat, or tall or short.

Aqua or Water Exercise is best for everybody. It does wonders for the cardiovascular system – the heart in particular. And since the exercise is done in the water, all the muscles in the body are used. The beauty of aqua or water exercise is the fact that although all the major muscles of the body are moved during the whole activity, very little effort is felt because the buoyancy of the water helps carry the body’s weight. This type of exercise is also highly recommended for those with joint problems (mostly those who are a little older) because this is a low-impact exercise; the joints in the ankles and knees are safely protected from too much exertion during the exercise.

Water exercise is simple: its aerobic exercise done in the water. You’ll need some floaters as accessories and a few water dumbbells or weights. You can also listen to music as you perform your aerobic exercises. The water level has to be at least a little below your shoulders so you can maximize the buoyancy of the water when you do your arm exercises.

So get your swimsuit ready (you’ll look and feel much better on them, I tell you!) and find a friend or two who can join you! Find the perfect pool and do this as regularly as you can and kiss those extra pounds away. Just don’t go to Jollibee or McDonald’s after your exercise session, otherwise your hard work will be of no value.

Wait … on second thought, go ahead! Enjoy Jollibee and McDonald’s once in a while. One thing I learned about losing weight; it’s all about burning all those extra calories. So if you eat out, just be sure to take a walk before you go to bed; use the stairs and not the elevator, drink lots and lots of water; fidget so you’ll burn an extra 200 calories per day; and be on the move whenever there’s an opportunity. And lastly, do your aqua or water exercise at least 2 times a week.

See you in the pool!

Desperate to Lose Weight?

Desperate to lose weight?

It’s as easy as ABC! What’s the hardest thing in losing weight? It’s basic: do YOU have enough discipline to make things happen?

Because that’s all that matters!

For the reason that losing weight is very simple … it only takes small steps … done consistently and with exactness!

For example, as a starter, in order to lose weight, one has to drink 8 or more glasses of water everyday. Can you do this?

Next is to stop drinking softdrinks! Many would say this is easy; but how about those who are in a way “addicted” to these drinks? I for one can attest that cola drinks are addictive. Food simply seems to taste better when they’re paired with a cola drink. I have tried drinking Sprite, 7Up, or Royal in lieu of the cola drinks, and I tell you, they don’t give the same “ahhhhhhh!” after every sip (or gulp!). But hey, cola drinks and other carbonated beverages are not good for the health simply because they contain so many calories! So if it can be helped, let’s begin steering clear away from them. Let’s drink water instead.

Exercise regularly!

Next, exercise! I can already imagine some of you shaking your head and silently saying “no, no, no …” Hey, I did not mean go to the gym and lift weights. To me, exercise means “moving about”! Climb the stairs instead of taking the elevator. Pick up litter and trash; the bending motion will help you. Just be sure to bend your knees when you pick up something so as not to stress or damage your muscles or tendons. When answering your phone, stand up. Leave your office chair for breaks and do some stretching.

If you have a car, park it farthest from the entrance and/or exit of the establishment you are visiting. The short walk will do you wonders. If you’re going somewhere very near, never mind taking a ride; walk instead. Exercise does not have to be very strenuous; something light done regularly will also have an impact in the long run. Remember the saying “from small and simple things big things come to pass”? This is also true in exercise. Moving around burns calories; it’s a good enough way to start a lifetime commitment to exercise!

Eat smart! Portion your food and eat only the healthiest. Never miss breakfast and eat frequently but in small servings. Avoid anything “white” as much as possible as they are processed to the point they contain less vitamins and minerals but they are loaded with calories. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, especially those that are high in fiber content. Avocado is a very healthy fruit because it contains healthy fat (monounsaturated fats).

Eat healthy!

These are few tips on how to lose weight. Are you now ready to try them by doing them one at a time? There’s really no need to hurry. Maybe today, or for a week, you start drinking 8 glasses of water everyday. Then next week, add to the 8 glasses of water one fruit per day. Then the next week walking for 30 minutes in the morning … And make the experiment more interesting. Take a picture of yourself, the sort of “before and after” effect.  At this point, do not take or measure your weight, do not even measure your waistline. Just be sensitive to how you will feel after one week, then after two weeks. I guarantee you, you’ll feel much much better!

Good luck!
